Salute 2 Service Inc. is proud to announce the receipt of a $169,100 grant from ACME Markets Foundation. This significant funding will support "Operation No Vet Left Hungry," a new initiative designed to expand food distribution and fight food insecurity among veterans and their families in Bucks County.
The grant, provided through the ACME Markets Foundation's Nourishing Neighbors Program, will allow Salute 2 Service to establish a second food distribution location in Lower Bucks County. This area is home to an estimated 64% of all Bucks County veterans. "Operation No Vet Left Hungry" will also improve the quality and variety of food available to recipients by purchasing specialty items to complement existing donations, addressing specific ethnic, religious, and dietary preferences.
"We are incredibly grateful for this generous grant from the ACME Nourishing Neighbors," said Rodney Wyatt Salute 2 Service Founder and Director. "This funding is a game-changer for our mission. It allows us to double our reach, serving more at-need veterans, particularly those who have served since 1990. We'll not only provide more food but also better, more tailored options, ensuring those who sacrificed for our country get the support they deserve."
The program will also incorporate nutrition counseling and cooking education to help veterans make the most of the food they receive, improving their overall quality of life.
Founded in 2013 by a veteran with the mission to "Leave no Veteran Behind," Salute 2 Service is a full-service veterans outreach and support organization for Bucks County. We provide a crucial helping hand to address the disproportionate challenges veterans and their families face, including food insecurity, homelessness, mental health struggles, and unemployment. Through dedicated Outreach & Assistance programs, we connect veterans with vital resources such as food, clothing, shelter, VA benefits, and job assistance, bridging the gap between their needs and available government support.
