Lower Southampton Parks & Recreation

Many exciting things are on the horizon at Lower Southampton Parks and Recreation. While we offered over 120 different programs last year, we are expanding on that this year and offering even more programs for our residents of all ages.

With the construction already begun at Dolphin Park on the new tennis, pickleball, basketball, and volleyball courts, it will be easier than ever to get outside and workout in our beautiful township. And the new courts are just the beginning. We recently were awarded a $250,000 grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for our planned walking trail that will be developed at Dolphin in the near future.

Another exciting aspect of our expansion is the new partnerships we have begun that will allow us to offer more sports choices. In partnering with Jump Start Sports we will begin offering sports that have traditionally not been offered in the township. Sports like lacrosse and field hockey will begin in May and are currently open for registration. These programs are great for kids wanting to try something new.

We have also partnered with Heyday Athletics to provide adult sports to our growing community of young and active adults. We will host basketball, volleyball, and indoor pickleball to begin in the Assumption BVM gym, with an eye towards offering flag football, kickball, and even everyone’s favorite childhood game dodgeball in the future. These co-ed weeknight leagues are perfect for those young adults who still have a desire to play, but aren’t still trying to become a professional athlete.

Springtime is also the beginning of our community events schedule. Please be sure to check out the township website and the parks and recreation Facebook page for updates on all of our events. Starting with our Spring Fling at Playwicki Farm on Saturday April 12 and continuing with our Second Friday Food Truck Rallies from May to August, we look forward to seeing all of our residents using our parks this spring and summer.

For questions, more information, or to let us know your ideas for recreation in the township, please reach out anytime by stopping into the township building or calling us at 215-357-7300.
