As October gives way to November, Friends Village reflects with deep gratitude on a season of community, creativity, and celebration. The Friends for All Time Gala, held earlier this fall, brought together residents, families, staff, and neighbors for an evening that truly embodied the spirit of friendship and joy.
Guests enjoyed lively music by The Creswell Club, whose elegant jazz stylings kept spirits high. A highlight was the clever Mystery Tour, designed by Ann D’Silva, which sent guests on a playful exploration of the evening’s theme. The art table, curated by resident artist Doris Carter, showcased beautiful works created by Friends Village residents, adding a heartfelt touch to the celebration.
Joseph’s Catering provided a delicious meal, while volunteers worked tirelessly to plan and carry out every detail. Exquisite costumes filled the room, laughter echoed throughout, and the night concluded with presentations honoring Lydia Lewis, Dennis O’Brien, and Hon. Edward M. Paxson for their enduring commitment to Friends Village.
With the gala’s success still glowing, Friends Village looks ahead to a busy November of learning and connection. Yoga for Seniors continues Mondays and Thursdays at 2 pm. The Senior Planet technology series returns with sessions on Google Workspace (Monday, November 10, 11 am –12:15 pm) and Smartphone Camera Uses Beyond Photography (Wednesday, November 12, 11 am –12:15 pm). On Tuesday, November 18 at 2:30 pm, Santino from Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve presents a program on native plant pollination and creating habitats that sustain life.
All programs are held at the STYER Campus, 331 Lower Dolington Road, Newtown. For more information or to register, visit www.friends-village.org/growth or contact Laura Hornyak at 215-968-3346 ext. 200 or LHornyak@friends-village.org.
As Friends Village moves into the season of gratitude, heartfelt thanks go to our generous sponsors and all who contributed to this meaningful fundraiser, dedicated to preserving and restoring historic Paxson Hall. Their support ensures its legacy continues to inspire generations to come—a lasting reminder that when community comes together, friendship truly lasts for all time.
