The Friends of the Doylestown Library presented contributions totaling $15,000 to the Bucks County Free Library (BCFL) in support of two major fundraising initiatives.
BCFL Chief Executive Officer Dana Barber accepted a $10,000 contribution to support Summer Quest, the library system’s summer reading and activities program for children, and a $5,000 contribution to support Bucks for Books, which will enable expansion of the county library collection.
“We conducted two successful fundraising programs in April – our annual Arts & Crafts Fair and our Spring Community Book Sale – and our board wanted to immediately put those resources to work for the library,” said Friends President Steve Schreiner. “In addition, we will continue to fund the popular programs we regularly conduct at the Doylestown Library.”
Barber reported that, to date, the Summer Quest campaign has raised more than $68,000, and the Bucks for Books campaign has raised more than $39,000. “The Bucks County Free Library system is extremely grateful for such strong support of our two fundraising efforts,” said Barber. “With these contributions, and all of the support from our other partners and from the community, both our Summer Quest and Bucks for Books campaigns have exceeded their goals.”
The Summer Quest children’s program began June 14 at all seven branches of the Bucks County Free Library – for more information, contact your local branch or visit the BCFL Events calendar at: calendar.buckslib.org
